Defect
Certain 2018 Ford F-150 vehicles previously repaired under recall 17V669 may have an incorrect powertrain-control-module repair that can cause unintended gear indication or selection.
Risk
Unexpected vehicle movement may increase crash or injury risk.
Free remedy
Dealers will update powertrain-control-module software free of charge. Ford lists 26S42 as the recall number.
